So it's been absolute craziness since we've been back in Mazatlan! We came back in a taxi from the bus station and before we even got out of the taxi we were reunited with all of our fellow YWAMers and I saw some of my closest friends from back home who were here to help out with Carnival (Mexican Marti Gra). We then were thrown right into preparation for Carnival before we could recover from jet lag and sleep deprivation (I got about 9 hours of sleep over the course of 72 hours). Carnival was awesome, we had 3 extra DTS teams staying here plus a few smaller teams from Canada and Mexico on top of the two normal DTS we have here at the base, yeah we were packed. During Carnival we had 7 different ministries: hair salon, cafe, evangelism, intercession, worship, kids ministry, and a skater ministry. I was on the intercession team and it was really incredible, we did 24 hour before and during carnival, and I had a slot of time from 4am-6am with 3 others and we prayed at this time everyday of carnival. At first I thought this time was going to be a real sacrifice, we were already not getting much sleep but it turned out to be an incredible time of intercession, worship, and intimacy with God. There are way too many things to say about what happened during Carnival but there were definitely people healed and 2252 souls brought into the kingdom of God!
We had a short break after carnival and then jumped in to help a local church with their annual surf competition. It's really cool, the pastor of this church used to surf a lot and wanted to reach out to the surfers somehow so things fell into place and they started the surf comp. This was a good time, kinda stretching because we had different responsibilities and we were basically running the whole competition, and it was only my DTS doing it. The comp ended last night and we had today off which was nice. Today some friends and I went a poor part of the city and started to talk to people, some were craftsmen, others who were just begging for money. We found out that one of them was a Christian so that was super encouraging, and then on the way back we led this nine year old girl to the Lord! It was such a great, encouraging time, and originally we didn't even want to go but we knew God wanted us to, and we were blessed because of it! God is good is such an understatement.
